塔科夫斯基拍《索拉里斯》時(shí)說(shuō)他不喜歡隔壁庫(kù)布里克在《2001》里那樣干凈整潔的科幻，于是想要讓他自己的科幻片看起來(lái)像是老舊破敗的巴士一樣。德尼的《High Life》就此也像是異曲同工。同時(shí)，這樣的破敗簡(jiǎn)陋轉(zhuǎn)而也賦予了影片一種無(wú)與倫比的生活質(zhì)感——這座飛船看起來(lái)終于真的像是幾個(gè)人常年居住的地方，而不是美式科幻那種空洞洞的假氣。標(biāo)題起的很簡(jiǎn)單但是很棒的諷刺意味：“high life”是高貴的生活，與之相對(duì)的是“l(fā)ow life”，即低賤的生活。片子標(biāo)題是為前者，而內(nèi)容自然就是科幻似乎自誕生以來(lái)就充斥著的一處悲劇性內(nèi)質(zhì)——無(wú)論去向太空何處，人類似乎都無(wú)法逃離自身的野蠻。
